文章中段的撰寫 (七) 如何表達個人看法

文以言志，文章中述及自己對事物的看法本屬平常事，但如果有技巧地用英語表達「我覺得」、「我認為」等句語卻頗考心思。先看下列兩句同學常犯的錯誤：

I feel that she should not go. O

I recognize that she should go. O

上述兩句，乃典型之廣東話式英語 (Chingish)，一般同學的通病乃硬把與中文字義相若的英語詞語拼合便算完成造句了。上述兩句之 ‘feel’ 及 ‘recognize’ 並不適用於表達「我認為」或「我覺得」的意念！在英語中下列間下片語均可，表達「我認為」或「我覺得」的含意：

1)      I think that she should not go.

2)      In my opinion, she should not go.

3)      From my point of view, she should not go.

4)      To my mind, she should not go.

上述的詞語，比 ‘I feel’、‘I recognize’ 較符合英語的憤用法。而且，運用時亦不必拘於放在句子之首。比方以首2句為例，可以下列形式表達：

She, I think, should not go.

She, in my opinion, should not go.

這種在名詞與動詞間，用兩個comma(,) 把I think及in my mind插入句子中，效果可把弄得更活潑和生動，下次作文時，不妨仿效一下。

考核文法重點:  動詞片語 (Phrasal verb)

題解及分析:  Hang out with意旨 “to spend a lot of time in a place or with someone”, 花較多的時間於某地或某人共處. Hang in 解「堅持」, Hang up 指「掛斷電話」, Hang on則指「等待」,均與題目意思不同.
