追憶往事 (Recall an experience)
緬懷往事，不勝唏噓。「想當年」是人之常情，作文開首時，善用此技巧較易引起讀者的共鳴。試看以下例子：
Topic: A memorable event
in my life

I used to be a very naughty boy when I was in my primary school.
Then all of a sudden, I changed into a quiet and attentive boy. The change was
abrupt and sudden. It was brought about by an event which I would never forget
for the rest of my life.
Topic: My best friend
My friendship with Tom started when we were in form one at school. I
still remember clearly the first time I met him. It was the first day of a new
school term...
從追憶開始，再由其後的片段細述事件始末，文章便較易展開。這種技巧，頗像電影的蒙太奇，非常浪漫和吸引，寫作不妨運用。
不少人在寫作過程中, 都會於文章加入個人立場. 但很多時用的字眼頗極端, 例如: “I absolutely agree to the idea
that ……”, 其實如果立場太極端是不智的, 那麼, 用什麼方法表達個人立場方獲別人認同呢？

題解及分析: 副詞與時式關係密切, 用 Lately, Recently, So far, Since 等副詞, 主句應為「現在完成式」(Present perfect tense) 而非「現在式」(Simple present) 或「過去式」(Past
tense), 因為表達一件由「過往 - 特定時間至今」, 而非只於「以往」或「恆常」發生的社會問題. 請參考下列三個表, 你便會明白此句為何用現在完成式:
